ROCK Documentation : Flow Restrictions

Introduction

Governments of certain countries apply rules that regulate container flow from/to ports in that country. PLP needs these rules as input, so that it does not suggest empty flows that violate these rules. Such rules in ROCK are maintained in Master Data module. Relevant users can change the excel sheets that contain these rules and re-upload in the designated screen.

Overview

The user can take actions manage flow restrictions e.g. upload new/delete/promote/demote etc. using the standard ROCK master data module functions. Please refer to ROCK Master Data page to view details. Below descriptions aim to explain the content of the files.

Flow Restriction

A flow restriction defines which empty flows are allowed from one port to in a specific country to another port in another country and the condition if the vessel is calling a different country between the port calls of the same country. Example 1 below tells PLP not to allow any empty flows from a Chinese port to a Taiwanese port. Example 2 tells PLP to allow empty flow from a Chinese port to another Chinese port only if the vessel is not calling another port in another country in between these two ports.
