ROCK Documentation : Service Mode Availability (CY/SD)

Introduction

Bookings can be placed using one of the cargo transport services - container yard, store door and container freight station.

These service modes are categorized into two types for operational purposes:

  • CY – Container Yard

  • SD – Store Door or Container Freight Station

The ACA provides container availability for both CY and SD service modes. This enables the booking platform to accept or reject bookings based on real-time availability for the selected mode.

Note: ACA considers the service mode at the origin location only, as availability is determined at the origin.

By default, both CY and SD has share the same container availability at pool/site. Containers are booked on a first-come, first-served basis across both service modes.

Service Mode Configuration

The Service Mode Configuration screen allows you to define a percentage cap on container availability for the CY service mode at a given site.

How it works:

  • If a cap is configured:

    • CY Availability is limited to the defined percentage of the total container availability at the site.

    • SD Availability remains unchanged and continues to offer 100% of the total container availability at the site.

For example:

  • Total Availability (for contract customers): 200 containers, shared between CY and SD.

  • Freesale Availability (for spot customers): 50 containers, also shared.

All containers are available to both CY and SD bookings on a first-come, first-served basis.

After Configuration

A cap is applied to CY availability:

  • CY Availability is now capped at 10% of total availability:

    • CY Total = 10% of 200 = 20

      • CY bookings can be made up to 20 containers.

      • However, these 20 containers are not reserved exclusively for CY. These are shared with SD.

      • This means if SD bookings consume all 200 containers, no containers will be left for CY bookings.

    • CY Freesale = 10% of 50 = 5

      • Similarly, these 5 containers are shared with SD freesale.

      • If SD spot bookings use all 50 containers, CY spot bookings will not be possible.

  • SD Availability remains at 100%:

    • SD Total = 200

      • The first 180 containers (i.e., 200 - 20) are exclusively available to SD.

      • The remaining 20 containers are shared between CY and SD, and are booked on a first-come, first-served basis.

    • SD Freesale = 50

      • The first 45 containers (i.e., 50 - 5) are exclusively available to SD spot bookings.

      • The remaining 5 containers are shared between CY and SD spot bookings, again on a first-come, first-served basis.
