To ensure the smooth operation of equipment, we have implemented a feature that limits the number of non-operating reefer (NOR) containers that can be released from a pool during a designated week or range of weeks, even if the system predicts higher availability.
This enhancement empowers operators to manage NOR containers at the pool level, enabling better control and preventing over-allocation.
When should you limit non-operating reefers at the place of receipt?
Utilize this feature in the following scenarios:
When predicted availability exceeds actual support capacity.
When you need to cap NOR bookings for operational reasons.
When you require week-by-week control over NOR container releases.
How it works: An Example
Configuration:
Pool | Container Group | NOR Limit | Valid From | Valid To |
|---|---|---|---|---|
NLROT | 20REEF* (NOR) | 80 | 202520 | 202522 |
Predicted Pool Availability for Week 202521: 150
Given the configured NOR limit of 80, the system caps the pool-level availability at 80.
Availability Across Sites in a Pool
Assuming Pool NLROT has the following sites and predicted NOR availability for week 202521:
Site | Predicted Availability |
|---|---|
Site 1 | 90 |
Site 2 | 40 |
Site 3 | 20 |
Although the total pool-level predicted availability is 150, the configured NOR limit of 80 adjusts the availability shown to booking systems.
When No Bookings Are Made
The system calculates: MIN(site availability, remaining NOR pool limit)
Site | Site Availability | Pool Remaining | Available to Book |
|---|---|---|---|
Site 1 | 90 | 80 | 80 |
Site 2 | 40 | 80 | 40 |
Site 3 | 20 | 80 | 20 |
Site 1 displays 80 availability despite having 90, as the pool cap is 80.
After Bookings Are Made
Bookings:
10 containers booked at Site 2
20 containers booked at Site 3
Total NOR booked from the pool: 30
Remaining pool limit: 80 - 30 = 50
The system recalculates availability as follows:
Site | Remaining Site Stock | Remaining Pool NOR | Available to Book |
|---|---|---|---|
Site 1 | 90 | 50 | 50 |
Site 2 | 30 | 50 | 30 |
Site 3 | 0 | 50 | 0 |
Site 1 is limited to 50, even though it has more stock, due to the pool cap now being 50.
The system ensures that total NOR usage across all sites never exceeds the configured pool-level limit.
How to Configure
To set a non-operating reefer POR limit:
Navigate to the configuration page.
Add a new NOR restriction with the following details:
Pool Code
Container Group (e.g., 20REEF*)
Max Limit (e.g., 80)
Valid Week Range (e.g., from 202520 to 202522)
Save and apply.
